thanks for mic/head phone help so far, but need more trouble shooting help please?

i can hear my t.v., games, and my music. mute is off, blinking light says the power is on. can someone narrow down audio set up problems? mic is plugged into only usb port remaining, on front of cpu.
I'm not sure what the problem is exactly but it sounds like your mic is not working. try this.
1.Click start
2.Click Control panel
3.Click sounds, speech, and audio devices.
4.Click adjust the system volume
5.Click advance.
Now make sure everything is adjusted correctly and the mic is not muted. (The headset might not be but the volume settings might be.)
If that doesn't work go back to step 3 and check all the tabs to see if every thing is configured correctly.
